Why modern web pages is so slow?

Hello everyone!

I want to talk about modern web, more about client side aka frontend.

A lot of influencers talk about how it's so slow, so laggy, etc. And I agree with that. But I can't see the exact reason how to avoid it in modern corporate development. We all use JS frameworks, and they all position themselves as highly performant. For example, Angular now has signals and disables zone.js. But somehow some apps still feel so, so laggy.

Is it a skill issue? Or can't modern tools make a client SPA truly highly performant? What to use to find the exact reason?
